Did you feel it? 4.7 Earthquake just north of Greenbrier! Keep an earthquake journal! Report to USGS!

We were all asleep and our beds started to shake.  We jumped up to see what was going on and realized we all were awakened by a quake.  I reported it on the USGS site "Did you Feel It?" and realized we were not alone.  Facebook messages were mounting up like freshly popped corn.  Finally, someone posted the link.
http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsus/Quakes/nm022811a.php#details  Another 3.8 occurred a few minutes later at 11:17PM.  We need to stop this nonsense.  NO MORE INJECTION WELLS....PLEASE.  Also, we all think fracking is adding to the nonsense.

  1. I felt it in Fort Smith. It was odd though. I have been in quakes befor in LA and in Portland, Or and this sure didn't feel anything like those. This shake came through a specific section of one wall and only shook one piece of furniture and the glassware on it. Our two cats gave absolutely no indication this was coming. Our neighbor, though, said he felt his whole house shake. What makes that strange is that is house and my house are the same house (its a duplex). Why did his part of the house shake all over but in my part only a small section in one wall?

Personally, I think there is more to these earthquakes than fracking. I'm not saying the fracking isn't contributing to the quakes but...my "gut" is telling me there is more to it. And while everyone's attention is riveted to fracking as being the cause, other "factors" aren't even being considered.

  2. Within the youtube social community there is a network of weather and earth changes “nerds” who are constantly monitoring earthquake activity, volcanoes and extreme weather that is occurring around the globe. And, there are also some that focus on solar activity. I frequently tune into this network of citizen weather journalists to see what’s happening as the info they report is not covered by the main stream media (MSM). Following is a video by youtuber, dutchsinse, who is one of these earth changes reporters. dutch is located in St. Louis, MO. In this video he talks about the quakes that happened in AR last night.

  3. Ok...this blog is a front for the Sierra club, or at least most of the content comes from their organization. (If I am incorrect I apologize)

The point is WE need your help in investigating the cause of this. And if you have the aid of the Sierra Club then you have the resources.

Slingshot, you are an INVESTIGATOR. Correlating the recent siesmic activity can be VERY EASY, and you can help the whole state out if you will do the following for us.

Contact the Arkansas Oil and Gas Comission and get the locations and permit dates of every waste water injection well. THEN contact the US or Arkansas geological Survey and get records of seismic activity for up to 24 months prior to those well competions and start correlating the activity to the creation and use of wells. The WAS a correlation in the Barnett Shale in DFW and when the waste water injection wells were shut down the quakes stopped.

PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS FOR YOUR BLOG FOLLOWERS!

  4. @jmstark34...Since, as you say, there was a correlation in the Barnett Shale in DFW and when the waste water injection wells were shut down the quakes stopped...it would be useful for Slingshot to have the documentation of that study. Who did the correlation in DFW and how could one get access to that study. Obviously it was used to get the waste water injection wells shut down there. Just having the DFW correlation documentation to show the AOGC would at least demonstrate that this is not the first time this has happened. Indeed, this DFW correlation you speak of, IMO, should be broadly disseminated to the public.

This eve I caught the last part of Fort Smith's local ABC TV station (40/29) segment that they did on last night's earthquakes. Some PhD was saying something to the effect... there has never been any proof that activities of man have caused quakes. Perhaps you could get this correlation in the Barnett Shale in DFW between injection wells and quakes sent to 40/29 and give them a counter point to the PhD's point.

  5. Okay. I've got a correction to make. I went to the 40/29 TV website and found the news segment that I was referring to in the post above. The Dr. actually told the reporter the opposite of what I had thought she said. She told the reporter that a study performed outside of AR showed a correlation between man and Mother Nature. Maybe she was referring to the DFW quakes and the Barnett Shale correlation. Here's the link to the 40/29 video news segment titled Earthquakes Rattling AR:

  6. Youtuber, dutchsinse, uploaded a video this morning wehrein he makes a correlation between fracking and earthquakes. He shows earthquakes in West Texas near fracking wells and compares that to what's happening in AR. Have a look:
